HSPT in the Bay Area 2026: San Francisco and East Bay
Bay Area Catholic high schools set their own HSPT dates: St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco tests on Saturday, December 5, 2026, and two East Bay schools in Concord, De La Salle and Carondelet, test on Saturday, January 9, 2027. Unlike Chicago or Cincinnati, there is no single Bay Area date. The pages below were read on October 25, 2026. They are examples of schools that use the HSPT, not a ranking and not a complete list.

Schools that administer the HSPT and share results
St. Ignatius College Prep's HSPT page lists these schools as administering the HSPT, and says all of them share results with each other: Archbishop Riordan High School, Bishop O'Dowd High School, De La Salle High School, Junipero Serra High School, Mercy High School Burlingame, Notre Dame High School Belmont, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and St. Vincent de Paul High School. It says the testing location does not affect the admissions decision. We read the dates and registration pages only for St. Ignatius, De La Salle and Carondelet; for the others, check the school's own page.
How it works, from the school pages
- Registration is tied to the application. St. Ignatius: reserve a spot in the HSPT section of its application. De La Salle and Carondelet: an application must be on file.
- Testing at another school is allowed. De La Salle asks you to tell its admissions team by December 11, 2026 if you will test elsewhere.
- Once only. Carondelet's page says students can take the HSPT only once.
- Accommodations: St. Ignatius asks for documentation by its November 16 deadline and uses December 12; Carondelet's extended-time requests are due December 11.
What to do in the weeks before your date
Count back from the date of the school you test at. This is our own plan, not STS's:
- Four weeks or more: take one full timed test now to see where the points go, then follow the 4-week study plan.
- Two to three weeks: one full timed test, a week of short daily practice on the weakest section (see the Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematics and Language guides), then a second full test. The preparation guide has a day-by-day two-week plan.
- Under two weeks: one full timed test, then daily 20-minute sessions on the one or two weakest skills, and an early night before the test day.

When is the HSPT in San Francisco in 2026?
St. Ignatius College Prep lists Saturday, December 5, 2026, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with December 12 for accommodations and make-ups. Applicants reserve a spot in their online application by November 16.
When is the HSPT in the East Bay?
De La Salle and Carondelet in Concord both list Saturday, January 9, 2027. De La Salle says to register through the Diocese of Oakland's Scholastic Testing Service website, and an application must be on file.
Do Bay Area schools share HSPT scores?
St. Ignatius's page says all schools that administer the HSPT will share results with each other, and lists eight other schools: Archbishop Riordan, Bishop O'Dowd, De La Salle, Junipero Serra, Mercy Burlingame, Notre Dame Belmont, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and St. Vincent de Paul. It adds that applicants can take the test at one of them instead, usually after applying there and reserving a spot there.
How much is the HSPT in the Bay Area?
