How the questions are written
- Every question has exactly one right answer and four choices, except verbal logic questions, which have three (true, false, uncertain).
- Reading questions are answered from the passage alone, not from what your child already knows about the topic.
- Figures in geometry and comparison questions are drawn to make the question clear, not always to scale, unless the question says so.
Questions about the free HSPT practice test
Is this the real HSPT?
No. It is a practice test written by us in the HSPT format: the same five sections, the same number of questions, the same time for each section and the same kinds of questions. The real test is given by your child's school or diocese, on paper.
Is this HSPT practice test really free?
Yes. The whole test, all five sections, with the result by section and skill and the explanations for the first 10 questions of each section. No email and no sign-up.
Does my child have to take all five sections in one sitting?
Each section runs on its own clock and cannot be paused, as on test day. A refresh or a closed tab does not stop the clock, so start when there are about 2.5 quiet hours.
Can my child skip questions and come back?
Inside a section, yes: our test lets your child skip a question and come back to it before that section's clock runs out. Time left in one section does not carry over to the next.
Why do you not show an HSPT score from 200 to 800?
Because STS publishes no table that turns a number of right answers into the standard score or a percentile. A number we made up could be far off and would mislead you. The raw score by section and by skill is honest, and it is what tells you what to practice.
About the paid plans
What is the difference between $39 and $69?
HSPT Practice Tests ($39) opens all four of our full timed HSPT practice tests (the free one and three more), with an explanation for every question, the result report by section and by skill after each test, and the mistake notebook. HSPT Full Prep ($69) adds: skill trainer: drills by question type, with 1,409 practice questions that are not in the full tests; a printable paper version of every test, with a bubble answer sheet (PDF); 500 HSPT vocabulary words (PDF); cheat sheets: math formulas and grammar rules (PDF); a day-by-day plan to your test date. Upgrading later costs $30, the difference.
How fast do we get access?
The moment the payment goes through. The next page has the button to your dashboard, and we email a sign-in link. There is no password: on another device you enter the email you paid with and we send a 6‑digit code.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep access for 12 months. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. Write to [email protected] within 14 days of purchase and we refund the full price, no reason needed, as long as no more than one paid test has been started and no more than 30 trainer questions answered. If something is broken on our side, tell us at any time: we fix it, or refund you in full if we cannot.
Who charges my card?
Payment is processed by Creem, our merchant of record; we never see your card number.
